Nick painting 250 trucker hats

Hey everyone...once upon a time I had to create 250 hand painted trucker hats for a corporate event in San Francisco, for AdTech awards ceremony. I decided to do it all the painting in one day just to see if I could hack it.

The hardest thing was the physical nature of the job. A lot of bending, stretching, squating and pirouetting around as I splashed paint everywhere. It was a tone of fun, this one of the best photos of me with my work. I'm sure my daughter would approve...she is newly pronounced her desire to be an artist when she grows up. 

Fremont Art Show

My friends at Save Our Shores came out again to help me at the Summer of Love show in Monterey. The show was not very good but I jammed everything into my truck and headed to Fremont licked y split for the Fremont Festival of the Arts. Good call Nick....

Well I know nothing about Fremont and barely drive through there. But this was the absolute best art/craft show I have ever experienced. The people were awesome, and there were lots of them, 375,000 to be exact! Unlike here in SF they were not all liqueured up and belligerent by 2:30 each day. There was a great cross section and incredible diversity of age, race, size and shape. I was impressed with how friendly, genuine and down to earth Fremontonians are. I shot a couple vids, made custom hats and sold the highest priced hat yet at $120. Still pushing the ceiling on custom lids. Nice thing about the show, its juried, and they select quality vendors with unique craft.

Girl Rider and 1015 Folsom in San Francisco featuring DJ Shooey and Aaron Pope

 

Many of my good friends are talented, upcoming and accomplished DJs here in San Francisco. One of my very good friends, known as DJ Shooey, was invited as an honoree to participate in the 1015 Folsom Top10 DJDreamteam (the only female DJ in the group) event Saturday night, February 10, 2007. To support her, I busted out a custom trucker cap sporting her logo to wear while she was spinning her set. Great job SHOOEY, you rocked the house. We danced until we had shin splints...Oh, she is also sporting my latest Girl Rider Boardcross Desigs T-shirt. You can buy yours on my Girl Rider website. 

Aaron Pope another fantastic DJ and buddy of mine was spinning there and I had to deck him out in a brand new Girl Rider T-rucker hat I made only an hour earlier. He loved it and needed the accessory to dress up his brown "t". If you have not heard Aaron spin your missing out, also he has a sweet website with MP3's for your ears. As it turns out I got to meet Aaron's fiancee who wore some new Girl Rider shirts of mine. She is a sweetie, congrats you two!

ASR January 2007

This was the second time that Girl Rider exhibited at the ASR (Action Sports Retail) show in San Diego, CA. It was a great show. We opened 6 or 7 new accounts, met with our suppliers and had a killer time showing off our exciting new line of women's athletically inspired urban couture. As usual I had my 6-foot long custom chopper, from my past life as a bicycle designer, with me in my booth, which attracted a lot of attention. 

In my free time, I hung out with my good buddy, Rick, and ate some fantastic food at a brand new Argentinian restaurant. We went out and partied one night at the bar at the W hotel where I got to jam on the bongo drums with the local DJ during a SRO session. Thankfully I had limited my alcohol intake and was able to keep up for an hour before the DJ pushed me aside.
